CAMERON MAN (RIGHT BEFORE RETIREMENT) WINS $25,000

Cameron man can now retire with ease after winning $25,000 tax paid* in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 game on Aug. 9. Donald Drew, 62, stopped by Kum & Go, 403 N. Walnut in Cameron, to buy his usual purchase of "gas, coffee, and Lottery tickets." It wasn’t until Drew and his wife, Jo Ann, rechecked the numbers to realize that the ticket was worth $25,000 cash. Drew, a communications technician for G & T Power Company in Cameron, is going to retire in three months. "It will be really handy. I guess I can buy a lot of golf balls," Drew said jokingly. He says he hasn’t really thought of any other way to spend the money yet. Drew used Quick Pick to choose his winning numbers. Those numbers were: 3, 13, 17, 21, and 30. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
