Homestown Lottery Winner Turns $10 Purchase into $20,000 Prize
A Homestown woman made a quick stop that ended with a $20,000 increase to her bank account. Velma Bryant, a certified nursing assistant, was driving with her mother when the pair decided to purchase a few Missouri Lottery tickets at The Mustang, 107 Broad St., in Wardell.
At first, Bryant wasn’t sure she wanted to play the Lottery.
“I stayed in the car debating if I was going to play or not,” Bryant said.
After her mother put $10 in her hand and persuaded her to try her luck, the first-time Lottery winner bought two “10X The Money” Scratchers tickets.
The game “kind of jumped out” at the 22-year-old, who added that she doesn’t buy $5 tickets very often.
After uncovering a $20,000 prize in the parking lot, Bryant “jumped up and down a little bit.”
Bryant plans to use the windfall to “buy a car.”
“10X The Money
,” a $5 ticket with a top prize of $100,000, officially began on April 30.
