St. Louis Nurse Collects $10,000 Lottery Prize
Amy Antalick of St. Louis knew she won $10,000 on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket on the first of May, but it took a while to get to the Lottery office to claim the prize. The busy nurse is also a full-time student in a program at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She kept the ticket in a safe-deposit box in the meantime, admitting that it was “nerve-wracking” to wait so long.
“I had to make sure I held on to it and didn’t lose it,” Antalick explained.
She said she screamed and was “very happy” after uncovering the prize on a “$100,000 Taxes Paid” Scratchers ticket she purchased at Schnucks Market, 4333 Butler Hill Road, in St. Louis.
“(I) checked it a couple of times to make sure I really was winning that much,” said Antalick.
She explained that she and her husband, Jay, planned to pay bills with the windfall, although she might work a massage into the disbursement.
“But I need to be responsible,” she said with a laugh. “Unfortunately, being a full-time student, I have a lot of bills. It’s a nice, welcoming prize to help pay for that.”
Antalick added, “And then, of course, put some into getting more Scratch-offs, I’m sure.”
She suggested other players “stay away from the $1” tickets, and instead go for the larger prizes on the $5 and $10 tickets.
“Actually, we just got some out of the machine here at the office,” she admitted.
“$100,000 Taxes Paid
” is a $5 game that officially began Feb. 26. More than $7 million in prizes remain in the game. Players can track prizes remaining for all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games here at Molottery.com.
