The employees of the Missouri Lottery, through its social organization called ALF, are currently collecting monetary donations to help the people of Joplin in the aftermath of the massive tornado that hit the city on May 22. ALF will be taking donations from Lottery employees, vendors, retailers, players and the public from now throughout the month of June. Collection containers are located in Missouri Lottery validation offices in Jefferson City, St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield.
If you are interested in helping, you can deposit cash donations in these containers or you can write a check payable to the ALF Fund (only) and place checks in one of the containers. You can also mail checks to:

As you are probably aware, the path of destruction in Joplin was at least a half a mile wide and six miles long, killing at least 132 people and destroying numerous businesses, including several Missouri Lottery retail locations. In addition, St. John’s Regional Medical Center, the Joplin High School and several other school buildings were damaged. Since the mission of the Missouri Lottery is to raise money for public education, the funds raised through the ALF fund drive will be donated to the Joplin Public School District.
Our hearts go out to our retailers, our players and the people of Joplin. I hope you will consider joining ALF in raising funds to help the Joplin Public School District rebuild and help the public school students of Joplin be able to continue their educations.
