Lottery Prize Sends Foristell Woman on Flight to Florida
A Foristell accountant put her mathematical skills to use when she turned a $2 investment into a $99,000 prize. Fifty-one-year-old Rebecca Bross tried her luck on two Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash Quick Pick tickets and walked away with the jackpot prize from the drawing on May 13.
The self-proclaimed Lottery enthusiast “buys tickets every Wednesday and Saturday for Lotto and Powerball.” It was while she was checking her numbers online from prior drawings that she remembered she had a few Show Me Cash tickets.
“I screamed and told my husband to come to the room,” recalled Bross. “I was jumping up and down saying, ‘I think I won $99,000!’” she recalled over laughter.
When her husband confirmed the win, she admitted that they both cried, adding that they were “happy tears.”
“I got down on my knees and thanked God,” she said.
As for plans for the prize money, she has a few ideas.
“My sister just found out she has to put a new air conditioner in her house,” she began. “With her having two kids in college, I told him (husband) that I thought I would give her some money to pay for the air conditioner.”
In addition to helping family, Bross will “put some in savings” and take a special vacation.
Bross, who will celebrate her wedding anniversary in August, had been planning a trip to Florida, where she and her husband honeymooned 19 years ago. She noted that thanks to the windfall, instead of driving, they can “now fly down there.”
Show Me Cash
offers a rolling jackpot starting at $50,000, which increases by at least $5,000 at each drawing. Bross purchased her winning Show Me Cash ticket at Dierbergs, 2979 Highway K, in O’Fallon. The winning numbers from the May 13 drawing were: 3, 22, 24, 26 and 37.
For an extra $1 at the time of purchase, players can add EZ Match to their Show Me Cash ticket and win cash prizes instantly.
