A group of 24 employees at Skaggs Regional Medical Center in Branson has 250,000 reasons to celebrate following the May 6 Mega Millions drawing. On a ticket purchased by Marie Houck of Hollister, the co-workers – including cafeteria and kitchen workers, store attendants, nurses and maintenance crew – matched all five white-ball numbers drawn to win the $250,000 prize.

In addition to Houck, the following lucky hospital employees were also in on the winning ticket:  Juliana Chini, Dorcia Lotz and Karen Richardson, all of Branson; Audrey Cherry, Ramona Farthing and Kevin Evingham, all of Forsyth; Brenda Dayhoff of Galena; James Bosserman, Elizabeth Day, Elizabeth Head and Auther Nay, all of Hollister; Lance Etheridge and Ann Marie Greenway, both of Kirbyville; Bettymae Jackson of Merriam Woods; Lisa Frazier of Nixa; Timothy Manning of Reeds Spring; Jeanette Ashford, Sue Estenbaum, Neda Hamilton, Robert Hamilton and Lisa Humphrey, all of Rockaway Beach; Terry Green of Walnut Shade; and Edward Fausett Jr. of Omaha, Ark.

Houck said she routinely buys various Lottery tickets for the group, but they never expected to win a prize this big.

“It’s mind boggling,” she said, as she presented the group’s winning ticket and claim forms at the Lottery’s regional office in Springfield on May 11.

Before taxes, each person’s cut comes to $10,416, and with 24 winners, there are a variety of plans for spending the Mega Millions earnings.  Houck said she already had a plan for her portion, though.

“I’ve got to take care of my bedroom at home,” she said, referring to some needed household repairs. “And then I’ve got to take care of God and charity.”

Houck bought the winning ticket at Casey’s, 1835 S. Business Highway 65, in Hollister.  The winning numbers were:  6, 18, 26, 37 and 41.

Mega Millions, a multi-lottery Draw Game with jackpots starting at $12 million, holds drawings twice each week on Tuesday and Friday nights.  The group’s ticket marks the twelfth time a Mega Millions ticket purchased in Missouri has won $250,000 or more since the game began here on Jan. 31, 2010.
