KIRKWOOD MAN GETS PEPSI, $25,000 AT 7-ELEVEN

A Kirkwood man got more than his thirst quenched after stopping at 7-Eleven last Sunday. Thomas "Tom" Ortner, 27, said he went in 7-Eleven, 1193 Colonade Center in Des Peres, to get a Pepsi and he also bought a $1 SHOW ME 5 ticket. That ticket matched all five numbers drawn that night to win the $25,000 tax-paid* top prize. Ortner said he will probably "invest the money wisely." He also said he may use some of the winnings for a new vehicle. Ortner, who is a radio personality, picked the winning numbers at random. They were: 1, 5, 14, 19 and 26. His ticket is the 901st SHOW ME 5 ticket sold worth $25,000 tax paid since the game began six years ago. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
