Cadet Woman Banks $20,000 Lottery Prize
A nurse at Potosi Correctional Center bought a $20,000 winning Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket in Bonne Terre and then kept it at her home in Cadet for nearly a month until she could claim it at the St. Louis Lottery office on May 5. Angela Malloy, 43, said she “felt lucky” when she purchased a “$200,000 A Year For Life” Scratchers ticket at Casey’s General Store, 805 Benham St., in Bonne Terre. She scratched the ticket at the store and knew she was a winner right away, but she was in no hurry to brave St. Louis traffic in order to claim the prize. She locked the winning ticket in a safe until she could arrange a ride to the Lottery office.
“I still don’t think it’s sunk in yet,” said Malloy upon claiming her $20,000 prize.
Malloy said she would “hold back on it for a little bit,” until she made a decision on how to spend the windfall. Potential uses include a new car and a Florida vacation.
Even though Malloy said she “hardly ever wins anything off Lottery tickets,” she added, “There’s a first time for everything.”
“It’s a big win, for me anyway,” Malloy said.
She suggested that others “keep playing” and indicated she was following her own advice.
“Oh yeah, I’m scratching now,” Malloy admitted.
