Lottery Loot Sends Neosho Woman to London
A Neosho woman is packing her bags to take a long-awaited trip, thanks to winning a top prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket. Annabelle Hill, 48, uncovered a $77,000 prize on a “Power 7’s” Scratchers game that she bought at Casey’s General Store, 930 S. Neosho Blvd. in Neosho, on April 21.
The mother of one said the windfall will finally allow her to visit her daughter, who accepted a job as a registered nurse in London more than four years ago.
“I haven’t seen my daughter since she moved,” explained Hill. “Now I can. I am very excited!”
The first time Lottery winner, who scratched off the winning ticket while driving to work with her husband, said she “didn’t realize” she had won a top prize right away.
“I saw $500 first,” she recalled. “I was already happy.”
As Hill continued scratching the ticket and revealing higher prize amounts, she said to her husband, “Am I dreaming?”
The couple, who work at the same office, kept the news to themselves, but Hill added that they “were smiling and just looking at each other” during their shift.
Hill noted that she is not only “really thankful” to be able to visit her daughter, but the prize will also take some of the daily stress out of her life.
“I don’t need to worry about my bills!” she exclaimed. “We’ll be ahead.”
“Power 7’s," a $5 game with a top prize of $77,000, officially began on Dec. 4, 2010.
