Stress Relief Achieved: $5,000 Prize Will Wash Away Worries

Story Photo audio icon Marcie Osborn’s $5,000 Missouri Lottery win will “take a lot of the stress off” of the 26-year-old Hannibal woman.
While cashing in a $20 winning Scratchers ticket, Osborn and her boyfriend, Matthew Wisdom, also of Hannibal, decided to purchase a “Bonus Word Crossword” ticket at Abel’s Quik Shop, 2859 James Road in Hannibal, on April 21.
"At first, we thought it was a $100 winner,” she recalled. “I realized that I missed a letter. He (boyfriend) found the missing last letter, which made it $5,000.”
The couple said they were “extremely happy” after they returned to Abel’s Quick Shop and asked a clerk to “double check” the Lottery ticket.
“We’re going to pay our bills and get caught up,” added Osborn. “It will change daily life.”

Bonus Word Crossword," a $3 ticket with a top prize of $50,000, officially began on Feb. 5.
