Seeing is Believing: Mexico Woman's Glasses Help Reveal $100,000 Prize
A Mexico woman said “relief” was the best word to describe how she felt after uncovering a $100,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket. According to Sharon Miller, 56, the windfall “won’t change much, but it will take some of the stress off of helping my children.”
Motivated by stories of Lottery winners in surrounding towns, the mother-of-four and grandmother-of-six decided to try her luck on a “Pure Gold” ticket she bought at Abel’s Quik Shop, 3066 S. Clark St., in Mexico.
The first-time Lottery winner noted that she “didn’t realize” she had won a top prize right away.
“I didn’t have my glasses on,” she explained. “I thought it said $20.”
After putting on her glasses and looking at the ticket for a second time, she “started shaking.”
“I said, ‘Oh, my God!’” she exclaimed.
While claiming the prize at Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City, Miller said she was excited to “help my children out, (because) they are my world.”
In addition, Miller might even “do something for myself for a change and take it a little easy.”
As for her closing thoughts on the entire Lottery-winning experience, she said, “I really appreciate it. I’m still ecstatic!”
” a $5 game with a top prize of $100,000, officially began on Sept. 25, 2010.
