Family's Fuel Stop Ignites $30,000 Payday
A mother and daughter from Illinois uncovered 30,000 reasons to cross the state line into Missouri on April 12. Linda Davis-Perkins of Milton, Ill., was traveling with her daughter, Trixie Griffin, when the pair stopped for gasoline at Ayerco 65, 222 Mansion St., in Louisiana.
“I just thought, ‘Well, while she’s pumping gas, I’ll go in and buy some tickets,” explained Davis-Perkins.
The first-time Lottery winner “wasn’t expecting to win” on either of the Missouri Lottery “Money Tripler” Scratchers games she bought, but she ended up with two prizes.
“The first won we scratched off was for $30,000!” she exclaimed, noting they also won $30 on the second ticket.
When asked what the prize money would mean for the 66-year-old mother-of-four and grandmother-of-13, she said, “It’s going to really help me every month with my bills. I’m elated!”
“Money Tripler,"a $2 ticket with a top prize of $30,000, officially began on Jan. 22.
