St. Charles Man Eases Into Retirement with $100,000 Lottery Prize
When a St. Charles man returned home on March 28, he told his wife to “sit down.” Retired St. Louis water company employee Michael Stabile had just uncovered a $100,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery “Casino Cash” Scratchers ticket, and he was about to share the news with his wife of 41 years.
Before Stabile could tell his wife about the windfall, she asked him if he wanted to go out to dinner. With an extra $100,000 in his pocket, he said, “I guess we could, but sit down. I want to show you something.”
“I looked at it, and she looked at it, and she said, ‘Wow!’” recalled Stabile.
The lucky couple plan to share their winnings with their two children and “invest some of it.”
The traveling enthusiasts had returned from a Florida vacation a few days prior to purchasing the winning ticket at Circle K, 1525 Caulks Hill Road in St. Charles, and they intend to use a portion of their prize to take another trip.
“We have friends in Vegas,” he added, noting they plan to visit their long-time friends and celebrate over dinner on the Las Vegas strip.
When asked to sum up his Lottery winning experience, Stabile said he’s feeling “fantastic.”
“It was just beautiful!” he exclaimed.
“Casino Cash,” a $5 game with a top prize of $100,000, officially began on July 17, 2010.
