Emily House’s first experience with a $5 Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket yielded a big dividend, allowing the 23-year-old to claim a $10,000 prize on a “Power 7’s” ticket she purchased at a local convenience store.

House, a food server at a St. Louis nursing home, was cashing in a small win on a $1 Scratchers ticket when she decided, against her normal routine, to purchase a $5 game.

“It was my first time buying a $5 ticket,” she said. “I was just shocked to win. I didn’t know what to think.”

Through the shock, she noted that she was able to put plan in place to help make her winnings work for her.

“I’m going to put it on a CD (certificate of deposit) and save it for now,” she shared.

House purchased her winning “Power 7’s” ticket at QuikTrip, 4453 Meramec Bottom Road in St. Louis, on March 25 and claimed her prize at the Lottery’s St. Louis regional office on March 29.

Power 7’s,” a $5 game that officially began Dec. 4, 2010, features a top prize of $77,000. Information on remaining prizes for all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be found at Molottery.com.
