Wiley Perkins is a fan of Missouri Lottery “Crossword” Scratchers tickets, but the Sedalia man was happily surprised when his latest ticket – featuring the newest rendition of the popular game – revealed a $50,000 top prize.

Perkins, 78, took the “Bonus Word Crossword” ticket he purchased at Casey’s, 1909 W. Main St. in Sedalia, to the Lottery’s regional office in Kansas City to claim his prize on March 16.

“I’ve played Crossword for quite a while,” he said. “But it made me feel pretty good to win that much money.”

Perkins said he plans to put his prize money “in the bank and sit on it a while.”

When asked if his wife, Audrey, had any ideas about what they should do with their winnings, he laughed, “I’m sure I’ll find that out later.”

“Bonus Word Crossword” is a $3 game that officially started Feb. 5.  Ten top prizes of $50,000, as well as thousands of prizes between $3 and $5,000, remain in play.  Details about remaining prizes for all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be found at Molottery.com.
