$20,000 Prize Makes Lincoln Family's Bill Budgeting a Breeze
Timothy Kranz of Lincoln won’t “have to worry so much about bills every month” now that he’s uncovered a $20,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket. The 44-year-old father-of-three said it was a chance encounter that led him to the winning ticket, which he almost didn’t purchase.
“I was going to the library to apply for a job as a librarian,” he began. “I saw my brother’s truck parked at Casey’s, so I stopped in there to say “hello” to him, and I bought a couple Lottery tickets while I was there.”
Kranz hadn’t planned on buying Lottery tickets or stopping at Casey’s General Store, 508 W. Main St. in Cole Camp, but he was “so happy” he did after realizing he held a winning ticket.
“I scratched the first one off, and it was a $10 winner,” he recalled, noting that he bought two “Silver Anniversary” Scratchers tickets. “The second one
I started scratching off, and I saw that it had all winners, so I waited until I got home where my wife was at.”
After Kranz and his wife of twelve years scratched off a total of 20 $1,000 prize amounts, they were left “speechless.”
“I couldn’t believe it,” he added. “It was great!”
As for plans for the windfall, the couple said they will “mostly pay bills.”
Kranz noted their kids have a few ideas about how to spend the prize money, citing some new “Wii and XBOX 360 games” they hope to receive.
In terms of the immediate future, Kranz plans to celebrate by taking his “family out to a steakhouse for dinner.”
When asked to sum up his Lottery-winning experience, he said, “It means a lot.”
," a $10 game with a top prize of $250,000, officially began on Jan. 22.
During the Missouri Lottery’s “Silver Anniversary” promotion, 25 winners will be drawn each month to win $1,000 each and move forward to a grand-prize drawing for the chance to become a millionaire.
