My Lottery Member Wins Royal Caribbean Cruise
A recent Missouri Lottery promotion awarded a cruise package to a member of the Lottery’s players club, My Lottery. Joe Herbert, a mail carrier from Nixa, was selected Feb. 24 as the grand-prize winner. Herbert, 56, won a cruise on Royal Caribbean similar to the prizes offered on the “Missouri Lottery’s 25th Anniversary Cruise” Scratchers ticket.
“We’re still trying to let it settle in,” said Herbert about the win. “I’m still at the giddy-ish stage, if you know what I mean.”
To promote the new game celebrating the Missouri Lottery’s 25th anniversary, My Lottery members were offered a chance to enter the exclusive drawing for members only. More than 190,000 Missouri Lottery players participate in the free program that offers benefits like online entry for promotions and a birthday coupon.
Herbert said he entered the promotion while visiting Molottery.com. He was entering tickets into another promotion and noticed the opportunity to register for the cruise drawing.
“You know, once you start, you want to see all of the going-ons, and that was one of the going-ons. It was really just pure luck. You know the old saying, ‘If you don’t enter, you’re not going to win,’” he explained.
Herbert said his wife called him the “luckiest guy I know” and would join him on the cruise.
“Definitely going to take my high-school sweetheart, my wife, Mary Lou,” he declared.
As a postal employee of 38 years, Herbert said he was looking forward to the vacation. The couple has never been on a cruise before.
“We’re really excited about it,” he said. “At our age, to do something like that… it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing.”
