Jefferson City Bartender Claims $20,412 Club Keno Prize
Richard Durham said he routinely buys a couple of Club Keno tickets when he gets to work at Spectators Sportsbar and Billiards, 2103 Missouri Blvd. in Jefferson City. But it was a ticket he bought at the end of the night that won a $20,412 prize.
“It was like 10 until one, and I had four extra dollar bills. So I went and put it in there for the Keno; did Quick Picks on the 4-Spot and the 7-Spot,” Durham recalled. “When I hit the scan to see what it was and it said $20,000… I was like, I don’t know. It was crazy! We took a lot of shots after that, I know that.”
As the celebration ensued with co-workers, Durham said he developed a blood blister on his hand from all the high-fives.
“My hand hurt so much last night. I think I hit them a little funny or something,” he explained.
“We made a lot of jokes last night. They told me to get one of those ‘Happy Gilmore’ checks!”
Durham, 38, said he has no plans for the windfall, other than sharing it with his mother.
“Just put it in the bank. I might keep $1,000 or so back, in case I want to buy something. I’ll probably get me a nice little dinner before I go to work at 3:30,” he said.
Durham has other plans to “pay it forward.”
“I’m sure my tab will be kind of big tonight, too,” he offered.
He also admitted that he will continue to play Club Keno, and possibly other games.
“You never know. It hit for me there, it might hit for me in Powerball,” Durham projected.
” is a Numbers Game with drawings every four minutes. Players can choose from a variety of play methods by selecting how many “spots,” or numbers, they wish to play. Originally only offered in age-controlled establishments, the game is also available at any Missouri Lottery retail location as “Keno To Go.”
