KANSAS CITY MAN WINS $25,000 ON SHOW ME 5
James Tevis, 44, now has an extremely happy fianc�©e, Michelle Dean, after discovering his winning SHOW ME 5 ticket for Aug. 7 is worth $25,000 tax paid.*
Tevis, a city employee and resident of Kansas City, plays the same arrangement of numbers every day on the Missouri Lottery games. His lucky numbers are "a mixture of everything-birthdays and special days all included."
Tevis bought his ticket at Fast Stop, 7100 Eastwood Trafficway in Kansas City. "I found out I was a winner after watching the Missouri Lottery show at 6:59 and recognizing the numbers," he said.
He plans on using his money "to pay off a few bills and the rest, enjoy."
His lucky numbers were: 22, 25, 27, 28, and 30.
* Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
