A former Navy man will be hitting the high seas once again, thanks to his win on a “Missouri Lottery’s 25th Anniversary Cruise” Scratchers ticket. Glenn Campbell, 70, of Appleton City instantly won a seven-night Caribbean cruise vacation for two aboard a Royal Caribbean International ship – the largest ships at sea – on a ticket he purchased at Food Fair, 309 W. Fourth St., in Appleton City.

As part of his prize package, Campbell and his wife, Doris, will enjoy an ocean view balcony stateroom, round trip first-class airfare, deluxe hotel accommodations the night prior to the cruise, ground transportation to and from the ship, a new set of luggage, $1,000 onboard spending credit and $500 cash. When totaled, it’s a dream vacation valued at approximately $19,000.

“You get all nervous until all the paperwork is done,” Campbell shared about his visit to the Lottery’s Springfield regional office to claim his prize. “When that’s done, you know it’s real.”

Recalling how he broke the good news to his wife of nearly 47 years, he said he teased her about her recently broken arm.

“I said, ‘How long do you think it’ll be before you can go anywhere? Because we’re going on a seven-day cruise,’” he laughed. “I think she started healing pretty quickly after that.”

Missouri Lottery’s 25th Anniversary Cruise" ticket is a $5 Scratchers game, offering top prizes of $75,000 and more than 25 instant-win cruise vacations. Details about remaining prizes for the game, which officially began Jan. 22, can be found at Molottery.com.
