Daughter Delivers $75,000 Winning Ticket

Story Photo audio icon It was a typical Monday afternoon for Sue Baker and Walter McClure of Shelbina, until they uncovered a top prize of $75,000 on a “Missouri Lottery’s 25th Anniversary Cruise” Scratchers game. Baker said her daughter runs errands for the couple, and on Feb. 14, one of those errands was purchasing a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket and bringing it to their home.

“We were so surprised!” exclaimed Baker, who asked her daughter to select the Scratchers game for them at Ayerco, 301 N. Center, in Shelbina. “I scratched that first $5,000 off, and I thought, ‘That can’t be right!’”

Baker and McClure finished scratching the ticket off together, revealing a prize total of $75,000 – the first top prize claimed in the game.

“I still don’t believe it,” said McClure. “When it gets to the bank, I’ll know it then!”

As for Baker’s daughter who delivered the winning ticket, Baker said with a laugh, “She’s probably regretting she didn’t buy for herself!”

When asked about plans for the windfall, McClure said they will “put it in the bank!”

"Missouri Lottery’s 25th Anniversary Cruise," a $5 game with top prizes of $75,000 and instant cruise vacations, officially began on Jan. 22.
