A University City man is the first to claim a $30,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery “Money Tripler” Scratchers ticket. Timothy Church, 23, purchased his winning ticket from a vending machine at Schnucks Market, 6920 Olive Blvd., in St. Louis.
“I was just getting groceries, and I usually don’t leave without at least getting one ticket,” he shared of his decision to purchase Scratchers tickets two days ago. “I just threw in $10 and randomly punched a couple.”
Luck was definitely on Church’s side, though he wouldn’t know it immediately.
“I took it home, and I actually had the ticket in my pocket for two hours before I scratched it,” he laughed.
At first, he thought he’d won $300, but when he checked it again later, he “realized there were some zeros and a comma on there.”
According to Church, it’s not the first time he has experienced good fortune on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket purchased at Schnucks. The fence builder said he won $100 on a ticket he purchased at the very same machine about a week ago.
When asked what he planned to do with his Lottery winnings, Church did not hesitate to answer.
“I’m a skydiver,” he said. “So I’ll have a new parachute and a new truck.”
“Money Tripler” is a $2 game which officially started Jan. 22. Eight top prizes of $30,000, as well as thousands of prizes between $2 and $10,000, remain in play. Details about remaining prizes for all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be found at Molottery.com.
