'Magic' in Mexico: Lucky Numbers Lead to $3,500 Prize
A Mexico woman was “feeling great” after her Missouri Lottery Pick 4 numbers hit on Jan. 20. The win made Debra Lawson, a first-time Lottery winner, $3,500 richer.
Lawson, 59, said she started playing her “Christmas numbers,” a combination of 5, 2, 0 and 0, in October.
“I like to play the numbers around the holidays, because of the two and the five for Christmas,” Lawson explained. “I throw in the zeros, and I change up the order.”
Over laughter, she admitted that she called the Missouri Lottery a total of three times to hear the winning numbers from the Pick 4 drawing on Jan. 20.
“We were really excited!” she shared, referring to when she told her husband the news.
The couple, who have four children, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on Jan. 23.
“I feel blessed,” added Lawson, who noted that she plans to use the windfall to pay bills.
Lawson bought the winning ticket at Xpress Mart, 420 W. Promenade St., in Mexico.
