Las Vegas and Longhorn: Fulton Couple Make Plans with $25,000 Prize
While some people started out the New Year by making resolutions, a Fulton woman began 2011 by making cold-hard cash. Teresa White, 51, won a $25,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery Club Keno 10-spot ticket that she bought at Fulton Bowling Center, 530 Commons Drive in Fulton, on New Year’s Day.
“I’ve always played these numbers,” said White, referring to a set of random numbers she’s been playing for the past five years.
“I thought that I had just hit $145, but then my husband said, ‘I think you matched more numbers than that,” she explained. “We got to looking. It was nine numbers out of 10. We won $25,000. I was in a daze. I couldn’t believe it!”
White’s husband, David, said it was “pretty amazing” seeing their numbers come up on the Club Keno monitor.
“Everything, except her number 25, popped up,” David recalled. “Number 25 would’ve paid $300,000!”
Teresa quickly chimed in saying, “That’s okay!”
It was an exciting evening at the bowling alley for the Whites, their daughter and son-in-law, who were also celebrating the news of grandchild on the way.
“Everybody in the bowling alley expressed their ‘congratulations’ to us,” David said.
The first-time Lottery winners, who own White Moving and Storage in Fulton, said that they don’t usually give themselves bonuses, so according to David, the prize was a “pretty good bonus for the beginning of the year.”
As for plans for the windfall, the couple will go to dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse in Jefferson City and take a trip to Las Vegas for their 32nd wedding anniversary in August.
“It’s just hard to believe,” Teresa added. “I never dreamed that I would win anything like this.”
