TONIGHT'S LOTTO JACKPOT HIGHEST EVER
The Missouri Lotto jackpot for tonight’s drawing is estimated at a record $14.7 million, the highest in the game’s 13-year history. The second-highest Lotto jackpot was $14.6 million, won by a St. Louis man on May 27, 1989.
"The odds of winning the jackpot in this game are very good - 1 in 3.5 million," said Gary Gonder, director of communications for the Missouri Lottery. "It’s just a fluke that the jackpot hasn’t been won yet."
To play Missouri Lotto, players pick six numbers between 1 and 44. The cost is $1 for two plays (sets of six numbers).
"Players should remember it only takes $1 to win," said Gary Gonder, director of communications for the Missouri Lottery. "Always play within your means."
Lotto jackpot winners have 60 days after the drawing to decide if they would like to receive their prize in one cash payment - usually an amount worth about half of the advertised jackpot - or distributed in 25 annual payments.
Tonight’s drawing will be the 48th drawing since the Lotto jackpot was last won on Nov. 24, 1999, for an estimated $2.5 million by a couple from O’Fallon.
Lotto players have until 6:45 p.m. tonight to purchase tickets.
