Mega Millions Jackpot Increased to $330 Million; Record High in Missouri
Since no one matched all six numbers to win the New Year’s Eve Mega Millions jackpot, it now rolled to an estimated $330 million for Tuesday, Jan. 4. The jackpot is the highest Mega Millions jackpot offered in the game since Missouri started selling it on Jan. 31, 2010, and the third highest jackpot in the game’s history.
“There is still time to start the New Year off as a multi-millionaire,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “It only takes one ticket to get a chance to win. Players in Missouri can purchase tickets for the next drawing until 8:59 p.m. on Tuesday.”
Though no one in Missouri hit the jackpot, thousands of Missourians rung in the new year with prizes from the Dec. 31 Mega Millions drawing. More than 32,500 ticket holders won $318,181 in prizes ranging from $2 to $10,000.
“Please check your tickets closely,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “You may not have matched all six numbers to win the jackpot, but you might have won one of the eight other prizes in the game.”
Reardon said the easiest way to check your ticket is to use a Check-A-Ticket machine located at most Lottery retail locations. Retailers can also provide players with a printed copy of the winning numbers from the Lottery terminal.
“You can also look up the numbers on our website, Molottery.com, or by calling one of our hot lines,” she said.
jackpots start at $12 million and continue to grow until someone wins. Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday night at 10 p.m.
