Liberal Man Surprised by $50,000 Lottery Prize

audio icon A Liberal man was “feeling pretty good” after he claimed his winning Missouri Lottery “Jingo Bell Bingo” Scratchers ticket and discovered he had won a $50,000 prize.  The prize amount came as a shock to Donald Taylor, 61, because when he scratched off the ticket at a friend’s house, he thought he had won a $3,000 prize.

“We didn’t know it was this much until we got here!” exclaimed Taylor, referring to learning that his ticket held a top prize amount while claiming it at a Missouri Lottery regional office.

The first-time Lottery winner plans to “pay off a few bills” with the windfall.

Taylor purchased the winning ticket at Casey’s General Store, 1232 W. Highway K in Liberal, on Dec. 9.

Jingle Bell Bingo, a $3 game with a top prize of $50,000, officially began on Oct. 23.  Non-winning “Jingle Bell Bingo” Scratchers tickets can be entered in the “Hi-Tech Holiday" promotion for a chance to win a $15,000 hi-tech makeover, cash and Scratchers tickets.
