A group of 12 employees at Mid-America Precision Products in Joplin has been named the Lottery’s December Team of the Month as part of the Lottery’s ongoing Captains Club promotion. “Team MAPP,” as the co-workers call their Powerball-playing group, will receive a prize package of Lottery merchandise, as well as a feature at Molottery.com.
Team members include: Neil Manley of Carthage; Gary Fox, Joy Halseth, John Hills, Ed Hoagland, Mike Jennings, Brian Moorhead, Billy Pippen, Tony Reavis and Bill Wetherall, all of Joplin; Peggy Wilson of Oronogo; and Jeff Smart of Webb City.
“We’re manufacturers,” explained Jennings, who serves as the team’s captain and coordinator. “We make a little of everything, from landing gear to computer-related components.”
On Wednesday and Friday nights, however, the group dreams of making something else – the trip to a Lottery office to claim a jackpot prize. Though they haven’t discussed it as a group, Jennings noted that retirement would likely be on the list for many of them if that dream came true.
“I think that’s everybody’s dream,” he laughed.
Citing his Excel spreadsheet for helping to keep the group organized for the twice-weekly Powerball drawings, Jennings also said that “just seeing other groups win and knowing it could be us” helps motivate his team to continue playing.
