Sue Davis said she thought, “Oh, darn, bingo again,” when her husband, Eddie, purchased four Missouri Lottery “Jingle Bell Bingo” Scratchers tickets at the grocery store. However, she soon found herself celebrating his fondness for the game when she realized one of those tickets was worth $10,003.
According to Davis, 53, she and her husband purchase Scratchers tickets on a fairly regular basis.
“He buys them, and I scratch them,” she said.
Back home following their morning trip to Bratcher Market, 301 S. Morley St. in Moberly, on Nov. 13, she went to work scratching their tickets on the dining room table.
“In the fourth puzzle, I was one away from a line,” Davis explained. “Then when I saw it, I just stopped and then shook for a while.”
Eddie described how the couple “double-checked and triple-checked that ticket probably 25 times.”
“We kept dragging it out and checking it again,” Sue added with a laugh.
The Davis’ plan to deposit their winnings right away, spend a little on Christmas presents and then evaluate what to do next.
“I imagine we’ll save some just to have it,” she said.
Remaining prizes for “Jingle Bell Bingo” total more than $4 million. The $3 Scratchers game, which officially began Oct. 23, offers a top prize of $50,003.
Through Jan. 4, non-winning “Ho Ho Bingo” tickets can also be entered in the Missouri Lottery’s second-chance "Hi-Tech Holiday" promotion for a chance to win up to $15,000.
