Mega Millions, the multi-state jackpot game, is offering players another way to score a $1 million prize. Mega Millions players in Missouri who match all five white-ball numbers drawn will win an automatic $1 million when they select the Megaplier® option, too.
“Traditionally, the Megaplier® feature – which players can add for an extra $1 when they buy their ticket – has increased non-jackpot prizes by two, three or four times their normal amount,” according to Scott White, online product manager for the Missouri Lottery. “But under the new Mega Millions guidelines, any player who plays the Megaplier® and matches the first five numbers will automatically turn their $250,000 prize into $1 million, regardless of the Megaplier® number chosen.”
White said it is similar to the “Match 5” component of Powerball – Missouri’s other multi-state game – in which players who match the five white-ball numbers, but not the Powerball, win an automatic $1 million when they purchase the Power Play option.
Mega Millions jackpots start at $12 million and continue to grow until someone wins. Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday night at 10 p.m.
