Hillsboro Woman Claims $25,000 Lottery Prize

A Hillsboro woman has thoughts of sunny Florida on her mind after winning a $25,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery “Frosty Fortune” Scratchers ticket.  Ashlynn Brandstrom, 19, cashed in her winning ticket at the Lottery’s St. Louis regional office on Nov. 8.

Brandstrom, who works at Wal-Mart in Arnold, had gone to Festus Mobil, 620 Truman Road in Festus, with her father, Melvin, on Nov. 5, having no idea she would leave $25,000 richer.

“We went in there, and my dad got him one and me one,” she explained of her father’s Scratchers purchase.  “And I got the winning one.  It was our lucky day.”

Recalling how they scratched the tickets in the truck outside the store, Brandstrom said when she showed her dad the winning ticket, “I started crying; then he started crying.”

It didn’t take long, however, for them to decide just how they would spend the winnings.

“Me and my dad are going to pay off some bills and take a trip,” she said.  “We want to go to Florida – to Disney World.”

Frosty Fortune,” a $2 game that officially began Oct. 23, offers more than $5 million in available prizes.  Details about remaining prizes for this game, and all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games, can be found on Molottery.com.
