Shopping Spree in Store for Bloomfield Lottery Winner

Story Photo A Bloomfield woman said she “didn’t know what to think” on Oct. 22 after winning a $27,777 top prize on a Missouri Lottery “Show Me 7’s” Scratchers ticket.

“I about passed out,” admitted Lisa Bemister with a laugh, referring to the moment she uncovered the prize at Ross Minit Mart, 33468 State Highway 25, in Advance.

Bemister was standing at the counter “just freaking out” after scratching off her ticket.

“At first, I saw $2, so I thought I only won $2,” she began.  “Then, I saw a seven and a comma, and I didn’t know what to do next!”

After taking a moment to let the “shock settle,” the 47-year-old drove home to put the ticket in a safe place until she could claim it at a Lottery office.

“I kept it in a cabinet,” she noted.  “I checked on it several times to make sure it was still there and that I was still seeing it right!”

As for plans for the windfall, the mother of one emphatically noted that she “will shop!”

“My daughter is really excited,” she added.  “I told her that I’d give her a $1,000 for our shopping spree.”

"Show Me 7’s," a $2 game with a top prize of $27,777, officially began on Sept. 25.
