Cape Girardeau Man Scores $70,000 Prize
A Cape Girardeau man plans to get out of debt with his $70,000 prize from a Missouri Lottery “St. Louis Cardinals” Scratchers ticket. Thomas Moore, a 42-year-old maintenance technician, bought the winning ticket at Keg Shop, 1803 Independence St., in Cape Girardeau.
“I was sitting in my truck when I scratched it off,” he began. “I went back into the store to verify what I was seeing was real. I think they (store clerks) were more excited than I was!”
After receiving confirmation inside the store, Moore began making calls to friends and family with the news.
“My mom didn’t believe me at first,” he said. “My fiancé was really pleased with the news.”
Moore noted that plans for the windfall are “strictly business.”
“I’m going to use the money towards my house and bills,” he shared.
The first-time Lottery winner added that he’s “still a little bit in shock.”
“The win couldn’t have come at a better time,” he said.
