After two Show Me Cash players split the $359,540 jackpot prize by matching all five numbers during the Oct. 5 drawing, a Rocheport man has stepped forward to claim his half. Alan Cole, 50, claimed his prize of $179,770 at Missouri Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City on Oct. 6.
Cole purchased his winning ticket at Patricia’s Foods, 900 Keene St. in Columbia, just minutes before the 6:45 p.m. drawing.
Though he had been tracking recent drawings to get a feel for what numbers he thought were “lucky,” he said he didn’t have time to fill out a new playslip prior to the drawing and went with an old playslip he happened to have with him.
As far as plans for spending his unexpected winnings, Cole is still mulling over his options.
“I might invest a little of it, and I’ve got some bills to pay,” he said. “I might buy a tractor, too, and clean up some land.”
Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot that starts at $50,000 and increases by at least $5,000 at each daily drawing. Players select a set of five numbers between 1 and 39 or use the Quick Pick feature to allow the computer to randomly choose the numbers instead. The winning numbers selected by Cole were: 8, 20, 23, 29 and 30. His ticket is the 114th Show Me Cash jackpot-winning ticket since the game began on Sept. 8, 2008.
The second jackpot-winning ticket from the Oct. 5 drawing was purchased at The Village Mart in Hermann.
