Ste. Genevieve Man Receives $20,000 'Payout'

Clinton Wyatt normally buys $5 Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets, but he is glad his luck offered up another opportunity on Aug. 9.  Opting for two $10 Scratchers tickets instead, the 35-year-old Ste. Genevieve man walked away with a $20,030 pay day.

“The only reason I got these tickets was because the store was out of $5 tickets,” he laughed.

The over-the-road truck driver had been visiting family, stopping at Phillips 66, 5 Municipal Dr. in Arnold, for a drink on his way back, when he decided to pick up a couple of Scratchers tickets.  With his usual selection not available, he purchased one “Mega MONOPOLY” ticket, which won him a quick $30, and then a “$250,000 Payout” game.  It was what he uncovered on that second ticket that he says left him “dumbfounded.”

“I thought I scratched the wrong thing off or something,” he said, recalling his initial disbelief at seeing the $20,000 prize.

Once convinced, he kept the ticket “locked up in my gun cabinet” until he made the trip to the Lottery’s St. Louis regional office to claim his prize.

He said an upcoming surgery will have him out of work for approximately eight to 10 weeks, so the prize money “will help with that.”  He also intends to use a portion of his winnings to help his parents.

“$250,000 Payout,” a $10 game with a top prize of $250,000, officially began on June 12.  Information on remaining prizes for all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be found at Molottery.com.
