She may have been on the way to her sister’s baby shower, but it was Lynn Jones, 28, that got a “special delivery” on Aug. 7.  The St. Joseph woman won $30,000 on a Missouri Lottery “Triple Dough” Scratchers ticket she purchased at Apple Market, 3734 Pear St., in St. Joseph.

“I was actually going in to pick up my sister’s baby shower cake,” she explained.  “And my husband told me to get some Lottery tickets first, so I bought $20 worth.”

Scratching the tickets off in the car as they continued toward the party, the young couple was shocked when the top prize of $30,000 was revealed.

“I purchased the ticket, and my husband scratched it, so it was exciting for both of us,” she said.

While her husband, Darrell, kept the ticket safe and sound in his pocket, Jones said their good news often met with, “Oh, my God, are you serious?” inquiries from follow attendees at the baby shower.

The Jones’ claimed their prize at the Lottery’s Kansas City regional office on Aug. 9, with a plan in place for how to best spend their winnings.

“We just bought a house, and we’ve been talking about what we can fix, and now we can do it,” she shared.  They also plan to put some money into savings for their two children.

Triple Dough,” a $2 game that began May 1, features more than $4 million in available prizes remaining.  Further information on remaining prizes for all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be found at Molottery.com.
