CLARKTON MAN WINS $25,000 TAX PAID

Donald "Don" Miller of Clarkton is $25,000* richer after using birthdays to select the winning combination from the Sept. 1 SHOW ME 5 drawing. He said he will definitely pay off bills with the tax-paid windfall. He also plans to save some of the money. Miller, a factory worker for an aluminum company near New Madrid, bought his winning ticket the afternoon of the drawing at Town & Country, 104 W. Highway 162 in Clarkton. The winning numbers were: 3, 4, 11, 20 and 21. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
