St. Clair Man Wins $50,003 Lottery Prize

Story Photo audio icon A fishing trip netted one St. Clair man with something better than dinner – a $50,003 Lottery prize.  Charles Miller made a stop at Quikorner, 40 E. Fitzgerald Ave. in Gerald, on his way to Lost Valley Lake "about a month ago."  In addition to stocking up on supplies for his fishing trip, he also purchased a Missouri Lottery "Cash Line Bingo" Scratchers ticket.  After scratching the ticket while sitting on the shore, he knew he had a winner, but he wasn’t sure how much it was worth.

"My wife said it was a winner, but I didn’t know for sure or not," Miller explained.  "I knew it was $3."

When he finally made his way to the St. Louis Lottery office on July 27, Miller discovered the ticket held the top prize of $50,003.  He indicated that he would loan some money to his kids.

"I’ve got about everything I need," said the 64-year-old former tree trimmer.

Miller said he occasionally buys tickets "for something to do."  Nonchalant about his good fortune and catching fish, Miller said he may spend a week at the lake and will probably stop for more tickets on the way.

"All you do is try," he said.

"Cash Line Bingo" is the latest version of the popular Scratchers game.  The $3 ticket, which officially began May 22, offers players extended-play opportunities and a top prize of $50,003.  The game is available at most Missouri Lottery retail locations.
