Timing was key for Sebastiano Astuto of O’Fallon, who parlayed a simple early morning errand on July 6 into a $25,000 win on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket.

“I drove my mom to the airport this morning to go back to St. Petersburg, Fla., and I needed milk for my baby,” the 38-year-old explained.

With milk on his mind, Astuto stopped at Deer Run Quick Mart, 1322 N. Main in O’ Fallon, at about 5:30 a.m. and decided to purchase five “The Price is Right” Scratchers tickets while he was there.

“I’ve been playing those tickets since they came out and hadn’t won anything,” he noted.  “But it was the last of the five that was the winner.”

The general manager of Red Robin in O’Fallon, Astuto said he rushed home to wake up his wife and tell her the good news – an act that led to a little disbelief at first, but then turned to celebration and thoughts about how to spend their unexpected good fortune.

“We’re actually going on vacation in three weeks, so now it’s going to be even better,” he shared.

Additionally, the couple has plans to adopt a second child and may tuck away a portion of their winnings for fees associated with the process.

The $3 “The Price is Right” Scratchers game officially began May 1 and offers a top prize of $50,000.  Details on remaining prizes for this game, and all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games, can be found on Molottery.com.
