BRECKENRIDGE FARMER WINS $25,000 TAX PAID

A farmer from Breckenridge can buy some new tools for his shop after winning $25,000 tax paid* in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 drawing on April 12. Richard Curnow, 55, said he likes to work on old cars, and he plans to use some of the money to buy tools. Curnow, who also is a rural mail carrier, purchased his winning ticket at Piggly Wiggly, 506 S. Washington in Chillicothe. He picked the winning numbers at random about three years ago and has been playing $1 a night ever since. The winning numbers were: 8, 10, 17, 29 and 30. To date, 852 SHOW ME 5 tickets worth $25,000 tax paid have been sold since the game began in 1994. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
