Oklahoma Family Splits Missouri Lottery Prize

An Oklahoma family is feeling even more like “royalty” thanks to a $50,000 win on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket.  Earnest King and his wife, Roveta, of Eucha, Okla., along with his brother and sister-in-law, John W. and Debbie King, and their son, John J. King, all of Jay, Okla., are splitting the top prize from “The Price is Right” game they purchased in South West City on June 24.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Earnest King said he had gotten off work early at Simmons Food in South West City, where his brother is also employed, when they decided to buy the ticket at South West City Station at 400 N. Main St.

“We buy all kinds of Scratchers,” he said, explaining that the group routinely buys Lottery tickets with the understanding that all winnings are to be split amongst them.

Earnest scratched the winning ticket while still in the store and said, “We didn’t know what to think.”

It didn’t take long for the group to collect their thoughts and head in the direction of the Missouri Lottery’s regional office in Springfield, about 100 miles away, where they presented the ticket for claim.

“Paying some stuff off” seems to be at the top of the Kings’ to-do list now that they each have a little extra in their bank accounts.

Asked if they’ll continue to buy tickets as a family, Earnest replied, “Oh, yeah!”

The $3 “The Price is Right” Scratchers game officially began May 1.  Details on remaining prizes for this game, and all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games, can be found on Molottery.com.
