Show Me Cash Winner Will Pay Bills with $191,258 Prize

audio icon A Kansas City man wondered if he was dreaming when he checked his Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash ticket from the May 29 drawing.  Roy Timmerman, 52, said he was already having difficulty sleeping when he felt the urge to turn on the television.  He ended up having even more trouble getting back to sleep after what happened next.

"I couldn’t sleep that night," he recalled.  "The numbers came up during the Fox 4 broadcast.  So, I wrote them down, and then I went back into the kitchen.  I looked down, and then I had the biggest shock of my life!"

Timmerman had matched all five numbers – 9, 18, 23, 29 and 36 – to win the $191,258 jackpot.

"I just could not believe that the great god of lottery finally shined down on me!" he exclaimed.

After discovering he had won the jackpot, the federal security officer "tossed and turned all night" until his 4 a.m. shift began at the Kansas City International Airport.

Timmerman regularly stops at Gas Mart USA, 7303 N. Oak St. in Kansas City, and buys Show Me Cash tickets.  The day he purchased the winning ticket, he "bought a few extra ones," because the estimated jackpot was on the rise.

"The store is at the end of my street, and I stop there every day to get gas or say ’hi’ to the ladies," he noted.  "It’s kind of like a little family thing there."

The first-time Lottery winner plans to use the windfall to become debt-free.

"Then I’m going to do some home improvements," he added.

Timmerman joked that the Lottery win is the "best thing to happen to me since I got divorced."

"All of a sudden, I’ll have the house paid off and the bills paid off," he revealed.  "The sunrise tomorrow morning just looks a lot better."

Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot starting at $50,000, which increases by at least $5,000 at each drawing.  Timmerman was the 91st Show Me Cash jackpot winner since the game began on Sept. 8, 2008.  He used Quick Pick to select the winning numbers from the May 29 drawing.  To date, more than $12 million has been awarded in jackpot prizes.
