PERRY BUSINESS OWNER WINS $25,000

A 36-year-old Perry man can pay off his bills after winning $25,000 tax paid* in the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 drawing on Tuesday. Ronald "Ron" Wirtz purchased his winning ticket Tuesday at his business - Wirtz’s General Store in Perry - after he had a "feeling" to buy more. Wirtz said he and his wife, Lori, always play the same set of numbers in SHOW ME 5, but for some reason, he was compelled to buy $37 more that day, letting the lottery terminal randomly select the numbers. The combination that won was the last combination on the ticket. The winning numbers were: 14, 22, 24, 25 and 30. To date, 848 SHOW ME 5 ticket worth $25,000 tax paid have been sold since the game began in 1994. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
