Sedalia Couple Plans Wedding After $10,000 Win

Story Photo audio icon John Lennon is credited with saying, "Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans."  A couple from Sedalia is happy to announce they will be proceeding with wedding plans eight years in the making after winning $10,000 playing the Missouri Lottery.  Jamie Klueter explained that her growing family and a lack of funds have kept her Las Vegas wedding from becoming reality.  But after her fiance, Jacques, bought two "Emerald Green 8’s" Scratchers tickets on May 23, nuptials at the Palms will finally happen.
"We were just on our way home and pulled over to get some gas," began Klueter.  "He got a pack of gum and two tickets.  Then we pretty much both had heart attacks."
Traveling home from an out-of-state job interview, the couple stopped at Fast Lane McStop, 3259 County Road 211, in Kingdom City.
"He actually wanted the Silver 7’s (ticket), and they were out, so she gave him the Emerald 8’s instead.  He gave me one, and then he took the other one, and we wished each other luck and then scratched them," recalled Klueter.
"I saw the emerald and scratched off the first prize and it was ’$500.’  We screamed and then scratched the next one and it was another ’$500.’  We kept scratching and they were all ’$500s.’  We both started crying and hugging."
The 31-year-old mother of three claimed her $10,000 prize the following day.
"I was the reluctant one," admitted Klueter.  "I always tell him, ’Stop wasting money.  We’re never going to win.’  Now we’re going to finally get married!  We’ve been saving and saving, and now, we don’t have to save anymore."
Klueter said the prize money would be used to finance their wedding trip to Las Vegas and a honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta.
"Don’t be a negative nilly, like me," she said.  "I’m definitely a believer now, but it did take a while for it to happen.  I’m so thankful.  Somebody’s looking out for us up there."
"Emerald Green 8’s" is a $5 game that officially began July 18, 2009.  Only one top prize of $88,000 remains in the game.  Track prizes remaining for this and any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at Molottery.com.
