Fenton CPA Banks $10,000 Lottery Prize

A certified public accountant (CPA) from Fenton doesn’t need any advice for what to do with his $10,000 Lottery prize – he already took it to the bank. Robert Becker purchased a $20 Missouri Lottery "$5,000,000 Cash Extravaganza" Scratchers ticket on May 9 at Frontier Petroleum, 101 Old Sugar Creek Road, in Fenton. While scratching the ticket later at home, Becker discovered it was a $10,000 winner.
"I couldn’t believe it," recalled Becker. "I looked at it about 20 times saying, ’This can’t be right.’"
Becker said he likes to play the $20 games because the prizes are larger.
"I figure you might as well go for a big prize, you know," he explained. "Rather than getting four $5 ones, or 20 $1 ones, go for a $20 (ticket) and go for the big prize."
Becker intended to win the top prize available in the game - $5 million, paid as an annuity during 20 years or available as a lump-sum cash payment of $3.1 million. Had he uncovered that prize, the 65-year-old Becker said that he would retire from being a CPA to travel. Happy with his win, he instead deposited the windfall into his bank account.
"I had planned to buy a new car in a couple of months," offered Becker. "That will make a nice down-payment on it, I guess."
"$5,000,000 Cash Extravaganza" is a $20 game that officially began Jan. 23. The game features 10 second prizes of $1 million, and three top prizes of $5 million. To date, only two $1 million prizes have been claimed. Track prizes remaining for this or any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at Molottery.com.
