Arkansas Man Wins $100,000 Missouri Lottery Prize

Story Photo audio icon A Sunday trip to Missouri for Scratchers tickets and beer ended with a big win for one Arkansas man.  Roger Hall of Jonesboro uncovered the top prize of $100,000 on one of the Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets he purchased at Mr. T’s Liquor Store, 496 U.S. Highway 412, in Cardwell.

"When we got our tickets, the last ones, we decided that we would wait and scratch them off when we got home," recalled Hall.

The trip home was halted by a stop at George Ray’s Wildcat Hot Rod Dragstrip to watch some friends race the one-eighth mile track.  Hall scratched off the five "10X the Cash" Scratchers tickets while sitting in the stands.

"I scratched it off and saw that it had all those bags (moneybag symbols).  I scratched straight down first, put that ticket aside, because I saw it had all those bags on it.  I didn’t even scratch off the prizes, yet," continued Hall.

"I went back to that one, and I scratched it off one by one.  First one I scratched off said ’$5,000.’  I flipped out!  And then I scratched off the second one and it said, ’$5,000.’  And the third one – ’$5,000.’  All the way down – ’$5,000!’"

Hall was so excited that he couldn’t wait until Monday to travel to St. Louis to claim his winning ticket.  Thinking he won $70,000 based on the prizes linked to moneybags, Hall took the ticket back to Mr. T’s to confirm his good fortune.  The clerk shared even better news.

"He said, ’How much do you think you’ve won?’  I said, ’$70,000.’  He said, ’No sir, you won $100,000!’  I was shaking so bad, I couldn’t even sign my name to the ticket!" said Hall.

The 41-year-old small business owner traveled to the St. Louis Lottery office to claim his prize the following day.  Hall said he planned to use the money to become debt-free.

"I can be debt-free with $30,000, so that’s my first goal.  I’m going to pay off my house and pay off all my debts, and be debt-free, where I don’t have any debts at all.  And then maybe I’ll buy a new truck.

"It’s the best Monday, ever!" exclaimed Hall.

"10X The Cash" is a $5 game with a top prize of $100,000.  This is the first of nine top prizes to be claimed in the game, which officially began on May 1.  Players can track prizes remaining for this and all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games here at Molottery.com.
