ST. LOUIS WOMAN WINS $100,000 POWERBALL PRIZE

A St. Louis woman got a $100,000 return on a $1 investment after her Missouri Lottery Powerball ticket matched all the numbers drawn except the Powerball in Saturday’s drawing. Mary Ryan, a computer specialist, said she was still in shock over winning the game’s second-level prize. "I’ve gotten excited about winning a dollar before, and when the scanner said this ticket as a winner, I was happy because I thought I won $7," Ryan said. "I think the clerk was in shock as much as I was when the terminal read that it was a $100,000 winner." Ryan purchased her winning ticket at Balcony Candy/Snack Shop, 1520 Market St. in St. Louis. She let the computer select her winning numbers: 4, 9, 12, 33 and 48. Ryan said she plans to invest most of her winnings, but she also plans to share some with her family and her favorite charities.
