While many Missouri Powerball players routinely use the Power Play option for a chance to multiply their non-jackpot prizes by up to five times the normal amount, the game is offering the chance to win even more. For a limited time only, April 29 through May 29, the “Power Play 10X” promotion will give Powerball players who use Power Play the chance to multiply their winnings up to 10 times their regular value.
Here’s how Power Play normally works: for an extra $1 per play, Powerball’s Power Play feature offers the chance to multiply prizes between $3 and $200,000 by two, three, four or five. After each Wednesday and Saturday Powerball drawing, a wheel is spun to select that draw’s Power Play number. The wheel has 16 spaces that are labeled as follows: 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 5.
During the “Power Play 10X” promotion, though, one of the "5s" will be removed from the Power Play wheel and replaced with the number "10,” allowing players the chance to multiply the prize value by 10 whenever the "10" is selected as the Power Play number.
“We guarantee that the ‘10’ will come up at least once during the promotion," said Scott White, online product manager for the Missouri Lottery. "If it doesn’t happen by the time the promotion is set to end on May 29, the promotion will be extended until that ‘10’ is drawn."
