LOUISIANA MAN WINS $25,000 TAX PAID

A 71-year-old Louisiana man is $25,000 richer after matching all five numbers drawn in the April 14 SHOW ME 5 game. Lee Wenger said he plans to use the money to pay bills. Wenger purchased his winning ticket at Pick-A-Dilly Quik Stop, 221 Mansion in Louisiana. Every Monday, he buys a $1 play for each day that week using numbers he "Quick Picked" a couple years ago. Those lucky numbers are: 3, 5, 18, 20 and 23. Wenger, who retired from the Hercules Chemical plant about 10 years ago, now works part-time for the city of Louisiana. To date, 852 SHOW ME 5 tickets worth $25,000 tax paid have been sold since the game began in 1994. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
