De Soto Woman Spells Way to $50,000 Lottery Prize

A De Soto woman put her spelling skills to the test on March 23. Rachel Hannick, 27, uncovered a $50,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery "Crossword" Scratchers ticket. Hannick purchased the winning ticket at Casey’s General Store, 1900 N. Main St., in De Soto.
"
Crossword," a $3 game with a top prize of $50,000, officially began on Feb. 27. To date, 13 top prizes, as well as thousands of prizes ranging from $3 to $5,000, remain in play.
The Missouri Lottery generates nearly $1 billion a year in sales and contributes more than $200 million annually to Missouri public education programs, including the A+ Scholarship Program, Special Education Excess Costs and Vocational Technical Schools.
